Colorado: Connie Strasheim

Within these groups of individuals across the United States and other countries, there are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and so forth. As Dr. Jemsek states, “sooner or later” your family will be affected by this growing disease and you, too, will be trying to make a difference.

“In the Lymelight” ~ Connie Strasheim

Connie-SConnie Strasheim, a sister and a daughter, is the author of two books on Lyme disease, including Insights into Lyme Disease Treatment: Thirteen Lyme-Literate Health Care Practitioners Share Their Healing Strategies, which is currently a bestseller within the Lyme disease community.  She is also the author of The Lyme Disease Survival Guide: Physical, Lifestyle and Emotional Strategies for Healing. The latter book is based on Connie’s own struggle with Lyme disease, and offers insights into how to cope with chronic illness.

In fall, 2010, she will be publishing a new book on spiritual and supernatural healing, which is based on her faith in a God of miracles. This book is entitled, Healing Chronic Illness: By His Spirit, Through His Resources. Currently, she is writing a book on cancer, as she continues her research into Lyme and other diseases.

Connie became a medical researcher and writer because of her own battle with Lyme disease.  She became seriously ill in 2004 and was forced to leave her job as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines, and shortly thereafter, began researching the cause of her illness.  She was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease one year and thirteen doctors later, in 2005.

Her treatment regimen over the past five years has included mostly natural remedies to treat multiple strains of borrelia, babesia, bartonella and other tick-borne infections. Eight months of oral antibiotics have also been important for her recovery. She hopes to be finished with treating for all of these infections by the end of 2010.

A Colorado native, Connie has also lived in New Jersey, New York, London, Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Jose, Costa Rica. She believes that she may have contracted Lyme in Colorado, New Jersey or New York–or in all of these places, since she has tested positive for strains of borrelia that are found in both Colorado and on the East Coast.   As most people with chronic Lyme disease, she doesn’t recall ever having been bitten by a tick, but estimates that she has had the disease for at least twelve years, if not since childhood.

She has maintained a blog on Lyme disease since 2006, which can be found at: http://www.lymebytes.blogspot.com.LymeBytes

Youtube She also has video blogs.
