Colorado: LymeConnect

Within these groups of individuals across the United States and other countries, there are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and so forth. As Dr. Jemsek states, “sooner or later” your family will be affected by this growing disease and you, too, will be trying to make a difference.

Chad (aka Lyme Guy) is a son; he has been dealing with Lyme disease for almost 6 years and is someone that is “going to fight for the rights that people should have to get proper treatment to beat this thing…“ He is just a regular Lyme patient like everyone else and not affiliated with any group. He came up with the idea to make www.LymeConnect.com when he became too sick to work. When he started to feel better after a couple years of treatment, he wanted to dedicate himself to creating a site that he wanted at his worst moments while treating Lyme Disease and Lyme Connect is the end product.

Since launching in May 2010, there are now hundreds of members from over 35 states and 7 countries that are part of the Lyme Connect family. What makes the website so special is that you can see the symptom and treatment trends of current members. You can also be matched with other members that are going through the same treatments and symptoms as you. Lyme can impact people in so many different ways and it is very important to connect people on a more detailed scale when dealing with this complicated disease. You also have the ability to keep a symptom log on the site that can be printed with one click and be brought to your doctor appointments. You can also do an advanced search for people based on location or co-infections.

“We are all very proud of how it turned out and hope you will be too.” Lyme Connect has been receiving a tremendous amount of positive feedback since its launch. There already have been several emails from current members telling of their successful connection with others through the site’s matching system, changing their treatment, and experiencing significant improvement. Chad says, “I created this site because it is what I wanted during my worst moments battling Lyme and I am just so excited that I can potentially help others by making communication easier between people experiencing the same symptoms. Tell everyone you know impacted by Lyme disease about Lyme Connect. We are pretty sure you will feel like it’s your second family. “
