ChicagoLymeWithin these groups across the United States and other countries, there are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and so forth. As Dr. Jemsek states, “sooner or later” your family will be affected by this growing disease and you, too, will be trying to make a difference.

“In the Lymelight” ~ Chicago Suburban Lyme Support Group

Lauren is a dedicated wife, mother, advocate, and supporter that started this support group in hopes of helping those that are struggling with Lyme Disease. She also is very dedicated to spreading public awareness and assisting physicians to obtain the necessary training to treat and diagnose this fierce disease in her area. Back in 2008 she wrote to President Barack Obama when he was the Illinois Senator urging him to attend the Briefing on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases sponsored by the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association. She was in charge of the Chicago Lyme Support Group.  (There is a new group not called the Chicago Surburban Lyme Support who is run by three ladies:  Michelle M, Tiffany G and Jennifer H.)

Lauren received a response from him stating that he was a co-sponsor for the Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Prevention, Education and Research Act of 2007, (S. 1708/H.R. 741). She has arranged many showings of the Lyme documentary, Under Our Skin, in her area and was honored as Under Our Skin’s Advocate of the month in May 2009. Shewais also a board member of the Midwest Lyme Foundation.
