As Dr. Jemsek states, “sooner or later” your family will be affected by this growing disease and you, too, will be trying to make a difference.  

“In the Lymelight” ~ The Lyme Association of Greater Kansas City

The mission of the Lyme Association of Greater Kansas City is:

  • to serve as a support group to people with Lyme disease and their families
  • to provide prevention education to the public, and
  • to cooperate with the medical community.

The Lyme Association of Greater Kansas City (LAGKC) was formed in 1993 by a passionate and caring group of individuals. The Association strives to make a difference by providing services to those that suffer from Lyme Disease.

LAGKC provides services to people throughout the U.S., with a primary focus on Kansas, Missouri and nearby states. They cooperate with support groups in other states. For the last 18 years as a non-profit, they having been doing their best to raise awareness and promote education regarding Lyme Disease by working with the medical community. They also love to provide information to improve the health of those that suffer with Lyme Disease by offering information through meetings, guest speakers, videos, books, brochures, information packets, and even a telephone hotline. They produce a monthly newsletter, “Prime Time Lyme,” with readers from coast to coast. They produce and distribute almost 20,000 “Lyme Disease is on the Rise” brochures each year. They provide literature packets to patients, doctors, and schools. They hand out prevention information at health fairs and county fairs. They provide information to doctors and health department workers by exhibiting at medical conferences.

They have evening support group meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month, and a Ladies’ Lunch group on the first Thursday of the month. They also sell tick removal kits that remove ticks safely, to prevent Lyme disease.
