Getting Lyme disease was an eye-opening experience for state Sen. Terry Gipson. The Rhinebeck Democrat’s symptoms only lasted about a week and he hasn’t had any recurring problems since being treated, making him luckier than some, he said. Now Gipson hopes to pass the Tick Borne Illness Treatment and Education Act of 2013, or TickBITE Act, a bill that he said would help those suffering from long-term effects of the illness. Read more.
