Neal is a son, brother, husband, advocate, supporter, victim and leader. As a research biologist while doing field work he was bitten by an infected tick. He retired early due to complications from Lyme Disease. He is doing well now and has been advocated for about 20 years. He also provides support to those that suffer from Lyme by phone or email. He and his wife, Meredith,have been active in the this cause since 1990. They contribute their time in several national and international conferences. They both were “patients of Dr. Joseph Natole, testified in his defense in the original hearings before the administrative law judge, prepared questions for the cross-examination of the State’s witnesses, and reviewed and provided additional exhibit material for the Amicus Brief filed by the Lyme Alliance of South Central Michigan as part of Dr. Natole’s appeal of the State Medical Review Board’s decision against him.”

Hilary is a daughter, wife, advocate, fighter, supporter, friend, and victim. At about age 12, she was bitten by a tick while riding a horse. She has been living with its harmful effects for years. She was a very active child but after that bite she was no longer able to compete in gymnastics. She has been married for about twelve years. And on the inside of her kitchen cabinets she has…”Don’t hate me, hate my disease!”

Hilary has been advocate for many years even before she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and will continue to do so. She says that “anyone with a chronic disabling disease deserves to be heard even if they don’t know which diagnostic box they fit into.”
