I thank Dr. Lyle Petersen for his opinion (“Valley Views: Long-term antibiotics not warranted for Lyme treatment” June 16). Borreliosis is a poorly understood infection in its late stage. The spirochete is faster than any blood cell in our body and once it has had the opportunity to infiltrate multiple organs, it is possible it would be difficult to eradicate [References below, 1, 5, 7, 9].
