“This is a list of medications that I have used and experienced and there are others not used as frequently which are not listed at the present time. This has been presented to the naturopathic physicians at their conferences and at naturopathic Institutions in New Westminster and Toronto.” ~ Dr. Murakami Centre for Lyme Research, Education & Assistance Society

DRUGS Doses, Types, Lyme disease

Treatment first stage.

Doxycycline 100-200mg bid adults only

Amoxycillin 500-1000mg tid with or without Probenecid 500-1000mg daily

Pediatric Amoxycillin 50mg/kg in divided doses

With penicillin allergy

Ceftin 500mg bid

Biaxin 500mg bid

Pediatric Ceftin 30mg/kg daily in divided doses

Pediatric Biaxin 7.5 mg/kg bid

Zithromax 250mg bid (5 days on and 5 days off)

Ketek 400mg bid, (three to four weeks)

Pediatric Zithromax 30mg/kg stat or 10mg/kg daily

Treatment second stage:

Combination therapy necessary

Spirochetes:

Doxycycline 100-200mg bid

Tetracycline 500mg tid or qid

Amoxycillin 500-1000mg tid,

Biaxin 500-750mg bid

Azithromycin 250mg bid

Ketek 400mg bid or 800mg od

Roxithromycin (not available in Canada)

Survival forms:

Metronidazole 500mg bid

Tinidazole 500mg bid

Secnidazole 500mg bid

Hydroxychloroquine 200mg bid

all a minimum of three months

Parenteral treatment in third stage:

1. Intramuscular route

Ceftriaxone 1000-2000mg daily

Bicillin 1,2 million units three time a week.

2. Intravenous route

Ceftriaxone 2000-4000mg daily or pulse therapy

(4 days 4000mg on and 3 days off) S.E. gall bladder.

(actigall to minimize Ceftriaxone gall bladder crystals)

Cefotaxime 2000mg tid daily other Cephalosporins

Penicillin 1,000,000 million units per hour (via pump)

Drugs for Babesiosis

Clindamycin 600mg bid with Quinine 300-600mg bid or

Mepron liquid 750mg bid with Zithromax 250mg bid

Artemesinin recommended by some doctors, 100-200mg caps, can overload liver

Drugs for Ehrlichiosis

Doxycycline 100-200mg

Rifampin 300mg bid

Drugs for Bartonella

Doxycycline 100-200mg bid

Rifampin 300mg bid

Ciprofloxacin 250-500mg bid

Levaquin 500mg bid

Bactrim DS bid

Biaxin 500mg bid

Azithromycin 250mg bid for 5 days, 5 days on 5 days off

Drugs for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

Doxycycline 100-200mg bid

Doxycycline in children 4mg/kilo /day

Not advised for very young children and pregnant mothers due to dental damage
