VALHALLA — Dr. Aaron Schwartz doesn’t want to take any chances with his recent diagnosis of babesiosis, a potentially fatal tick-borne infection. So the retired surgeon went to the Lyme Disease Diagnostic Center at New York Medical College, a clinic where people can walk in without an appointment and see top tick-borne-disease specialists. Though a previous doctor had properly diagnosed Schwartz, the clinic’s Dr. Robert Nadelman adjusted his drug regimen. And he warned Schwartz he can get a tick-borne disease again. “You need to take precautions so you don’t get bit again and again,” he told Schwartz during his visit Wednesday. Read more.
