The National Capital Lyme Disease Association Needs Your Help

bullhornNational Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association – asking for some assistance, they write as follows:

Action Needed: Contact your Senator & Delegate Today

5 February 2013

The National Capital Lyme Disease Association needs your help to reach out to the members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates to let them know you do not support the amended and substituted version of HB 1933 approved by the House of Delegates Today.

The Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) and its members have blasted YOUR legislators with messages to stop a required disclosure about the unreliability of the Lyme antibody test. That disclosure, required by Senate Bill 971, they claim, will violate the sanctity of the patient-doctor relationship.

MSV worked to change an identical bill in the House of Delegates, HB1933, so that it now supports only placing some information on the Health Department website. If that is passed, it will deny timely information to a patient trying to make an informed decision about health care.

Lyme patients, their family members and friends must let the Virginia Legislature know NOW that the Senate has it right and the House/MSV bill has it wrong.

We now have a service to help you. You need only place your contact information in blank fields. You will find a suggested draft message ready to send and you can add your own statement.

This will enable you to easily send your message to your Senator and Delegate and state officials with a new utility we have obtained for you.

Protect patients by providing information to your elected officials. They were elected to protect you and your health. Give them the knowledge to to so.

Please send to as many friends, family and neighbors in your area to send. This service will make it easy to do. What is important is for each member of the General Assembly to hear from as many of their own constituents as soon as possible BEFORE this Thursday when we expect the Senate Bill to come up.
