To Mask or Not Mask?

We are in a society that seems to focus on “What’s In It for Me?”

Someone asked in a very nice way why does he see some wearing masks and others not. He asked why those that don’t, don’t.

Of course, those that wear them also shared their reasons why.
I have a few reasons why I wear my mask and why I have my sweetheart wear his. I also made a few to share with family and friends if they need one:

First, iMask* to show support for those on the front lines tending to the sick. For those who put their lives at risk every day, pandemic or not. They risk their life and the lives of their families every day. To show my respect for all they do, I wear a mask.

Second, I live with a chronic illness and I do not wish anyone else that burden. iMask to protect others. COVID-10 (CV) harms and causes damage to the lungs. Would you want to live the rest of your life gasping for air as many that deal with asthma, COPD, Babesia, and many others do each and every day?

Third, iMask to show unity. Our country was based on a document that states “One Nation Under God.” Let’s show we are unified as a country. Let us show those that were instrumental in making this country great that we can act as one.

I am not asking you to change your beliefs, politics, thoughts, etc. I am just wondering why we cannot act courteously in showing our respect for those that chose to tend to the sick; show them our support.

I have my thoughts on CV; I am a bit distrustful of the CDC and some of the medical community, but I will set that aside to show unity. (As one that has been shunned or mocked at by ER doctors that don’t deal with my “exotic disease,” I have plenty of reasons to distrust.)

However, it is not the time for politics, scare or fear tactics, conspiracy theories, etc., it is a time to come together and show other countries that when the sh*# hits the fan, that we can unite as one.

Or, for those that are still stuck on “What’s In It For Me?” iMask to save lives of those that are not strong enough to fight CV.

My hope is that you take the time to truly be honest with yourself in assessing why or why not, you choose to wear a mask.

Is it pride? Is it because you’re stubborn? Is it because you are selfish? Or, you just don’t think there is anything in it for you to iMask.

Please, no attacks, I share my feelings as a way to release my emotions, stress, and/or anxieties. It is good to release your emotions; it’s good for your health.

If you don’t agree, please just move on. I thank you for taking the time to read this, but please move on.

Sidebar:  When you sneeze, cough or even talk, moisture molecules are released into the air.  A mask would reduce that and perhaps saves someone’s life.  If you don’t believe me, isn’t that moisture that comes out of you mouth and nose when it’s very cold outside that you see when you say look, I can see my breath? Or, even when your glasses fog up?
